BREWER BRICKS WERE ON GREAT DEMAND IN CITIES SUCH AS BOSTON, BOSTON HAD SUFFERED FROM THE GREAT FIRE OF 1872, MUCH OF BEAON HILL DISTRICK IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN CONTRUCTED OF THESE BRICKS, AN 1857 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE NOTED THE DECLINE OF BANGOR'S BRICK MAKING OPERATIONS AND THE RISE OF BREWER'S , APPRARENTLY THE CLAY WAS OF HIGHER QUALITY ON THAT SIDE OF THE RIVER |
