WHITE SANDS MISSILE PROVING GROUND, NEW MEXICO |
No, this is not where we lost our innocence. That happened at Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. At 5:29:45 AM, Mountain War Time, on July 16, 1945 the United States detonated the first atomic bomb on the site pictured above. This is where the world took an immense lurch into the atomic age. The dark, lava obelisk on the left of the photo marks the exact position of ground zero beneath the point of detonation of the Trinity nuclear device. The semi tractor-trailer to the right carries a bomb shell similar to the one used to house the "Fat Man" bomb detonated over Nagasaki 24 days later. Few people realize that the Trinity Site is opened to the public twice a year, April 1st and October 1st. We made our pilgrimage in April, 2006. |
NOW WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU BEING SHOWN THIS PHOTO?There's no hidden message. Nothing political. Nothing religious. Honest! It marks a remarkable point in time in our history that we thought a few of you might like to know about it. Besides, it broadens your horizons, no? |
No Lawns to Mow ...

How much has changed in the last several years? Stan retired. Stan and Marguerite moved into their motorhome. A third edition of the Tarantula Keeper's Guide was published. Marguerite passed away. And, those are just the high points. So, it was deemed necessary to give the old website a revamp with a new name and a new cover photo. Enjoy!
In our webpages there are no passwords, no Java, no cookies, no pop-ups.* We don't even use animated graphics. Simple is better. In fact, we try to keep our graphics smaller than 100 KB each to reduce loading times. (Sometimes we fail miserably on the graphics' size, though. But, we try to remember to warn you in advance.)
(*Although we do have a short movie clip in one webpage, and we're told that the University of Calgary may be storing cookies and trying to abuse you with a pop-up. But, that's not us!)
Though this website is optimized for Mozilla Firefox running under some version of Windows, its code is basic enough that it should be usable by just about any browser running under just about any operating system.
For the most part we have the following principle interests. Merely select the topic that interests you to mollify your curiosity.
ARACHNID, SPIDER AND TARANTULA RELATED TOPICS. |
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE, MOTORHOME and SNOWBIRD ISSUES |

I didn't believe my mother-in-law! (Lovely lady, by the way. We got along famously. Marguerite always said I married her to be near her mother! But, I digress.) Joey always said she'd held a part time job, raised four kids and took care of her husband, but was never so busy as after she retired!
While E-mail is always the best way to get hold of me, I'm always two weeks to a month behind in responding. For arachnid, spider, and tarantula related topics see the sidebar for a better strategy.

Don't even bother trying to send me snail mail. I only get my snail mail four times a year. In a good year. Sometimes less often. It isn't worth the effort!

Sorry, I am not going to advertise my phone number. Try E-mail but read the sidebar first.
