Chapter 00. Overview This concise nutritional guide was originally part of a plan to make a useful full featured system that would allow someone to plan out meals on a 365 day 3 to 6 meal per day basis. The software in this case would look-up the ingredients of the recipe from the nutritional database and track the health statistics for each family member. It would take into consideration specific user supplied info for blood sugars, blood pressure, heart rate, and exercise to generate a report to provide doctors with the somewhat annoying requests to "For the next month please track your daily food intake, calories, nutritional data and your normal blood glucose readings". It took my sister 3 weeks to fill out such a request for just one meal. This prompted me to find a better way. Sure I could write the program to track all the information, but it needs recipe's and nutritional data in support and such was available in various printed forms of book and on labels affixed to products. So I embarked on a journey that saw the creation of this database and the program which I go into later in this book. This information is provided in electronic html for ease of viewing on your computer. At over 10,000 pages in printed form, it unfortunately is not suitable for publishing for ereaders. In addition, with the content being in html form, should someone want to develope a full meal planner and health tracker, such is possible. Basic concept is provided in the next two chapters. The html version can be read using any browser. There is a saying, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make 'em drink", well this was the case for my intended program. I could not find the support needed so now at a crossroads in my life I offer the information on merit as still being of value to those looking for it.
